Are Vinted bumps worth it?

A bump pushes one item higher in feeds and search for 3 or 7 days. Here's when that's worth paying for, and when to fix the listing instead.

The short answer

A bump is worth paying for when the listing is already strong, the item is worth more than a few pounds, it's in season, or it has favourites but no buyer. It's a waste on cheap items, overpriced items or listings with a dark, cluttered cover photo. Fix the photo, title and price first, because those are free.

A bump is Vinted's paid boost for a single item. According to Vinted, a bumped item appears higher in members' newsfeeds and search results for 3 or 7 days, depending on which you choose, or until it sells. The price depends on the item and the duration, and you see it before you pay.

So the question isn't really whether bumps work. More eyes on an item is useful. The question is whether the extra views will turn into a sale, and that comes down to the listing itself.

When a bump is worth it

  • The listing is already good. Clear daylight cover photo, searchable title, fair price. A bump puts it in front of more people, and the listing does the rest.
  • The item is worth more than a few pounds. Paying to promote a £4 top eats most of the profit. On a £40 coat it's a small cost.
  • It's in season. Coats in October, swimwear in May. Bumping when demand is high gets you more for the same money.
  • You've got favourites but no buyer. Interest is there, and a few more views can tip it over.

When it's a waste of money

  • The photo is dark or cluttered. More people will see it and scroll past it.
  • It's priced well above similar items. Buyers compare. A bump just shows them more clearly that yours costs more.
  • It's very cheap. You're better off bundling it with similar items.

Fix the free things first

Before you pay to promote anything, run through this:

  1. Cover photo. Whole item, front on, daylight, plain background.
  2. Title. Brand, item, key detail, size. See Vinted title tips.
  3. Price. Check sold listings for the same item. See how to price on Vinted.
  4. Price drop. Lowering the price notifies everyone who favourited the item, for free.

If the listing passes all four and still isn't moving, a short bump is a reasonable test.

Bump or Showcase?

A bump is for one item you want to push. Showcase promotes your whole wardrobe, so it makes more sense when you've just listed a lot of things at once. If you're doing a big clear-out, list everything properly first, then consider it.

Make the listings worth bumping

The best return on a bump comes from listings that already look good. FlipFast helps with that part: it writes a searchable title and a clear description from your photo, and can clean up the photo itself, smoothing creases, fixing flat light and swapping a messy background for a clean one.

Quick answers

It depends on the item's price, how long the bump runs and your country. Vinted shows the exact cost before you pay, so check it in the app for each item.
